Warner Bros. Studio-

The Making of Harry Potter

The Making of Harry Potter, located in Leavesden, London, was opened to the public in 2012. After the filming of Harry Potter had finished in 2010 Warner Bros. and the production crew wanted to preserve and showcase the thousands of artefacts, props, costumes, and sets used to make Harry Potter. They wanted their fans to experience the filmmaking and all that was put into making the incredible movie series. So Warner Bros. bought out the Leavesen Film Studios and transformed it into The Warner Bros. Studio Tour- London.

On June 27, 2016 we visited Warner Bros. Studio- The Making of Harry Potter where we went on a self-guided 3-hour tour of the huge studio containing props, sets, costumes, and many other things used to make all 8 Harry Potter films. This experience was like no other. The studio was filled with information on what and how everything what used in the filmmaking of Harry Potter. We saw many sets including: Dumbledore’s office, the Gryffindor common room, Potion making classroom, the Great Hall, and many others. The studio was also filled with thousands of props and the mechanics used to bring them to life in the wizarding world of Harry Potter. This visit to the studio was educational in the way of seeing all of what is put into making movies which is a source of media. We may not be studying filmmaking but to see the real props, costumes, and sets used in the internationally known and famous movie series gave us an insight on how much is put into making a film. We were also able to see how our fields of study could be put to use in such industry. -Amanda Barker
