Their central team will help their members in over 40 countries find creative agencies to work on projects such as redesigning store installations or rebranding campaigns.

During this trip I was in charge of our visit to YCN, You Can Now, where we met with Katy Kent who is in charge of membership.

She explained how the creative network fosters relationships between members and businesses to help fill jobs. They work with businesses such as Lush and The Guardian to help them find creative people for open projects they have. Their members include people like graphic designers, illustrators and other key workers.

As part of Kent’s job she helps businesses determine what their exact needs are and plan out campaigns. She finds inspiration for businesses and members to use for campaigns. They also use companies like Flamingo for learning cultural context for things in other countries.

She also helps to plan events for members to learn and network with each other. Events include things talks with marketing executives from companies like Burberry. She uses a wealth of connections to make all of her events and her job possible.

“YCN explained the importance of inspiration and connections above all else. They went into how they get guests to speak to their clients such as Burberry and the key, Kent said, was having all of the positive connections you can possibly have because that is how you will make the impossible, possible,” Emma Gregerson, student, said.

Kent said the key to a happy client is someone who is able to get the publicity they need.
